What can an examination certificate tell us about a life? This exhibition follows a Joseon scholar from early study through state examinations to public office. Nineteen objects in seven groups tell that story through books and original documents.
What to look for
- Study texts include the Thousand Character Classic, Elementary Learning, the Analects and Mencius.
- Compare a sigwon (exam script), a baekpae (certificate for passing a preliminary examination) and a gosin gyoji (royal appointment document).
How to take part
Tours run at 13:30 and 14:30 on Fridays and Saturdays from November 6 through 21. The exhibition was extended to November 22. No guided session is listed for its final day.
